Player Piano in the Coming Age of Electronics

Being one of the most popular sci-fi novels, “Player Piano” by Kurt Vonnegut is referred to dystopias about automation and capitalism. He describes the society which is completely based on machines and does not need human labor.

Though this book was written more than 60 years ago, Kurt Vonnegut managed to foresee the state of present life. This book was a kind of precaution to mankind about possible mechanization and automation which eliminates human labor. You may read many term paper writers who write about this issue, but neither will show such original views as “Player Piano” does.

What amazed me the most while reading the novel is abandonment of the quality of life. Though there is irony in this book, it is still considered to scientific fiction. The reason is that in the time of its publishing which is the year of 1952, scientific fiction was the most popular genre. Consequently, this book was referred to sci-fi with the purpose of branding.

It is necessary to mention that “Player Piano” shows the conflict between upper and lower classes of workers. This problem is very urgent even today as we are on a path of great mechanization of our life. Many online essay writers highlight this issue; however, they are not such successful as “Player Piano” by Kurt Vonnegut. Thanks to the success, the writer and his sci-fi novel inspired many authors to create original works on this urgent subject.
